SPOILERS!!! For those familiar with a Visual Novel adapted into an Anime called Fate Stay Night! It definitely hits a lot harder for those who watched both as the servant, Archer is actually Shirou Emiya from an alternate timeline where he just walked the idealistic but childish path of being a 'superhero' inspired by his adopted father, Kiritsugu spending many years to save many people as much as he could without a single one dying just like our Ocarina Of Time's Link. But it turns out to be a wasted effort for Archer as he is close to dying, he willingly becomes a servant through the contract with Alaya and realises he will remain a Heroic Spirit to exterminate threats to humanity by killing individual peoples he want to save throughout different time eras forever with no freedom as a Counter Guardian making his dream an illusion!

Damn, i always knew this was a sad game. but replaying this as an adult and watching this video, made it way sadder. Anyone else resonate with boy from the forest? I'm not sure if its this game that inadvertently did this, but I'm in love with forests and nature and have been since, and feel this game is a part of me. now I'm annoyed I'm an adult, give me an ocarina of time i want to go back

At this point I know what makes me love this game so much and why iam so deeply disappointed of the never titles, with so much gameplay, but nearly no art. This game is the only one that will ever touch my heart, on such a deep level.

This is a fantastic retrospective and analysis. It's insightful, coherent, and compelling to listen to. On top of that, you are a good storyteller and you are one of the very few people that is able to talk through your analysis without rushing or speaking too fast. You pause when needed and you are able to put full stops to your sentences. This simple act to keep the rhythm of your voice constant gives your analysis a vibe of professionalism and allows the listener to process the information you provide without being pushed. I am looking forward to further retrospectives from you. One on Majora's Mask would be wonderful, if you are interested.

A father figure dies, and a life of childish abandon is cast aside to answer an impending doom. You become an adult, sooner than you thought, which is at first exhilarating, only to find that the world has become dark and lonely and harsh. You see traces of goodness and innocence here and there, but most things are tainted and broken. The world you knew is gone. You experience love, and loss. You meet old friends, only to find that they too are changed. The innocence is gone. So much has been lost. You struggle through overwhelming obstacles. You prevail against impossible odds. You complete your thankless tasks and return home, only to find that it's not there anymore. It is there, but YOU have changed. You can't go back. Lost, confused, and alone, you leave, and seek answers in dark places. You find only sadness, and death, and unease. A sense of healing and calm is found in your struggles. It is fleeting, but profound. You fight, again, seeing echoes of the past. Repeating patterns become increasingly familiar. You prevail, again, but this time, there's no way home. You realize at last what it means to be the hero. You can save everyone but yourself. Knowing now that there is no other path, you resign yourself to it. You prepare once again to shoulder the burden, and in so doing you find yourself, at last. This is the story of the life every man. This is what it means to be a man. This is why we remember the Ocarina, and the Mask.

The man in the forest that dissapears and becomes a monster could possibly be the very link who saved the world already trying to come home. But because of the constant time loop Navi has to keep abandoning the hero to return to the new child like savior.

At 34, I feel as though I had to defeat an expectation of adulthood to be more open to others and feel things more fully (in other words, to recapture my childhood). But it's so strange. Just like Link, when I overcame the dark parts of adulthood, I found that they were tethered to parts of my childhood I was trying to preserve. For a long time, I felt like I lost both. To be honest, I draw a hard line after the end of this game. I don't buy that it has to be all tragedy and misery. Growth is about maintaining a child-like disposition even with the knowledge of what can be lost. Ocarina of Time feels like the origin story to becoming a truly reliable and functional adult.

I would pay the equivalent of a Netflix subscription for a single video of this quality every month or two. Managing to capture and concentrate the feelings of an entire work of art (and a decently long videogame too) is in itself an art form, and whatever name we have for such art, this video is a masterpiece in it.
